Lonnie Powell is a Kansas City-based artist, educator, and arts advocate. A graduate of Lincoln University, he spent much of his career teaching art and co-founded The Light in the Other Room artist collaborative. His work has been exhibited nationally and is featured in major collections, including the Kansas City Chiefs Arrowhead Art Collection and the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum. A Signature Member of the National Watercolor Society, Powell has earned numerous accolades, including the ArtsKC Virtuoso Award and recognition in the U.S. Congressional Record for his contributions to art and community.
